History of Women's Circles
Women’s circles have a rich and varied history that spans cultures and centuries. Originating in ancient societies, these gatherings served as vital spaces for women to connect, share wisdom, and support one another. In many Indigenous cultures, women’s circles were essential for community building, allowing women to pass down stories, traditions, and healing practices.During the suffrage movement and beyond, women’s circles became a powerful tool for activism, providing a supportive environment for women to discuss their rights, experiences, and aspirations. In contemporary society, these circles have evolved to address the diverse needs of women, fostering personal growth, healing, and empowerment.Today, women’s circles continue to thrive as sacred spaces for connection and collaboration. By gathering in community, women cultivate resilience, celebrate shared experiences, and honor their collective strength, reinforcing the idea that together, they can create meaningful change in their lives and the world.
